Robin Williams shocked the world by leaving us so soon before his time, but what made it even more depressing was learning that he was suffering from Parkinson’s Disease prior to his death. After his suicide, the actor’s wife dropped the bombshell that he was dealing with the early stages of Parkinson’s. Sad.
Michael J. Fox was diagnosed with the illness in 1991 and admitted that he turned to alcohol in order to help him cope. He revealed last year, “My first reaction to it was to start drinking heavily. I used to drink to party, but now I was drinking alone…and every day. Once I did that it was then about a year of like a knife fight in a closet, where I just didn’t have my tools to deal with it.”
Afterward, he went to AA and received therapy in order to deal with the disease. Now, he is sharing his reaction to Robin’s untimely death. He took to Twitter to say: “Stunned to learn Robin had PD. Pretty sure his support for our Fdn predated his diagnosis. A true friend; I wish him peace.”
Indeed. We all wish him peace and our condolences go out to his family and loved ones. He will be missed.
